Yes it certainly is possible to get at it without removing the steering wheel. There are two thumb nuts on either side of the speedometer that secure the bezel. Once the bezel is removed, I think you will be able to see what's required. I think there are another two thumb nuts that secure the front panel, but I'm a bit vague about that at present. If you are still having a problem, write to me and I'll take a closer look at my car -- which is still under cover in my garage. It's snowing here tonight!
