As promised, I have been in touch with Bob Mercer. I printed-out the postings at the time and left them with Bob. Even though he's 82 years old his memory is excellent, especially where Jowetts are concerned. He seems to remember that this modification was printed in the early 70's in the 'Jowetteer' when it was all foolscap pages and re-produced on something like a Gestetna copier!! He's given his complete set of 'Jowetteers' from the first edition in the early 60's to the start of the A4 booklets to Noel for the archives, so he can't search for the article himself. Perhaps Alan B has listed it in the Index of 'Jowetteers'. Nevertheless, Bob has taken the time to produce a drawing of the modification as he remembers it and I have it at home with me. If anyone would like a photocopy I would be happy to send one on the production of a stamped sae. Not having much idea of the comlexities of the Javelin engine bay it looks rather complicated to a pre-war man, but I'm sure that Bob will be pleased to elucidate over the phone if necessary. Hope this will be of some help. Regards, Tony. 7, Scott Street, Clayton-le -Moors, Accrington, Lancs., BB5 5QQ.
