Where does the heater feed and return go on yours? First thing I would do is disconnect and flush with a hose; usually a lot of brown sludge will be ejected. Also check your thermostat is closing so that at least the hot water passes through the heater before the radiator. Have you a tap on the heater hose? One mod I have seen is to return to the head inlet pipe.
