Does anyone have any guidance to pass on regarding setting valve clearances (or lack of them) with a Javelin/Jupiter having hydraulic tappets? My engine is in the car, but the car is not mobile yet. I've fiddled with settings quite a bit, and currently the "clearences" are just slightly negative at the firing TDC. The engine seems to run quite smoothly at idle; but at higher engine speeds (maybe 2000 - 3000 rpm) there is some spitting from the carburettors and the first sections of exhaust pipe starts to glow cherry red after a minute or so. I've had all of the tappets out and they appear to be in good condition. The ignition timing is correct (i.e. at TDC) and vacuum advance is operating. Any suggestions or comments would be welcome.
