I think that the first number - '8' - indicates it came from a 1928 vehicle. The Bradfords, being commercial vehicles had numbers beginning 'C' for Commercial, then a letter for the year, 'D' = 4, then the serial chassis number. Passenger vehicles were similar but had tyhe letter 'P'for passenger. My Javelin was E2 (1952) PC (passenger, 'C'series) 21105 (chassis number).

I don't know enough of the 'run' of the chassis numbers to say which model it came from, but I bet some helpful Jowett owner will be only too pleased to tell you - they are very friendly bunch.
